Johannesburg, South Africa, Harare, Zimbabwe, Vienna, Austria, Tokyo, Japan – February 18, 2013 – The Board of Directors of African Compass International Limited (“ACI” or the “Company”), today announced the appointment of Mr. Victor Manuel Santos Correia as the Company’s CG (Chief Geologist) and a member of the Board effective immediately.

“ACI is delighted to have  Victor joining the team as he brings with him varied experience across a broad spectrum of the mining industry,” said Charles Nhamo Rupare, ACI COO. “Given the considerable progress we have made in the last few years, we concluded that Victor was the right person to tackle the challenges ahead.”

Mr. Correia said, “given the progress ACI has made in recent years, it possesses unique strengths to take on exciting opportunities in the SADC region and West Africa. The Board and I firmly believe in ACI’s future, and I look forward to working with our talented management team and dedicated employees to chart that future course.”

Mr. Correia’s Biography

Mr. Correia holds a Degree in Geology from the University of Coimbra, Portugal, and Masters Degree in Management and Technology of Mineral Resources from Porto University, Portugal. He is currently finalizing his PhD in Geochemistry and Geophysics of Carbonate and Alkaline Rocks and their Economic Potential in terms of Rare Elements, at the University of Algarve, Portugal and Huelva, Spain.

From 1998 to 2009 he was a Lecturer at Algarve University, Faro, Portugal in Mineral Resources, Geology, Mineralogy, Geochemistry, Petrology, and Environmental Geology and participated in the orientation of Research Projects in Geological Mapping and Prospecting of Mineral Resources through the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) tools. In 2009 he was the Consultant of the Provincial Government of Cabinda, Angola, for the Department of Geology and Mines. He has vast knowledge of Geology and Mineral Resources of Angola in particular and West Africa in general.

Since 2010 he exercised as Senior Geologist and Consultant in basic and noble mineral prospecting and exploration in Africa, having travelled through several countries, such as Angola, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), South Africa and Namibia as well as working on Geological Mapping in some important areas of West Africa.
